Corporal Blues

Name: Blues

Pseudonyms: Grief

Age: Unclear but over one hundred years (hundred years since since the vow + whatever age his was when it was taken)

Race: human

Appearance: A blue skinned napan he is short but with a powerful build and dark hair. Tanned and fit with apparent scars he is noticeably a veteran.

Warren: D'riss path of earth and stone

Further Info: Corporal in the Sixth Blade of the Crimson Guard.

An Avowed of The Crimson Guard

Skills and abilities: As one of the avowed of the Crimson Guard Blues shares a number of abilities common to those of that status. Though as of yet the full effects of the vow are unknown he has gained a seeming immunity to the ageing process, or it at least maintains him at prime condition, and the power to fully recover from wounds that to others would prove fatal or at least permanantly crippling (like others of the avowed the ability to survive these injuries does nothing to dull the pain and seems dependant on the individuals will to live). An example of this supernatural endurance can be seem with Blues confrontation with the mad mage Yathengar. After sustaining an injury to his arm that is described as being "instantly fatal to any other human" he is still ready only short time later, apparently minutes, to confront a mage feeding off of and sustaining a portal to chaos.

Blues has been called by a number of characters as his company's weapon-master, it being said that in technique and ability with any weapon he was peerless amongst them, a company that counts amongst it's numbers many skilled fighters with over a century's worth of experiance. Something that has been referenced on a number of occasions is his speed and precision of movement being compared to that of someone who belonged to a top ranked Segulah, something which allowed him to defeat a greatly enhanced Adjunct Lavore and go toe to toe with the powerful Stormguard, who being the Wall Marshal it might be assumed the most powerful, Quint who was also enhaced by the Lady's Blessing. It should be noted that though, as stated by Shellar, it's said no one could stand before him due to his martial prowess he could potentially still be defeated by individuals who could over power or outlast him if they could drag the fight on long enough. Two such individuals mentioned capable of this are Iron Bars and Skinner both of which it should also be noted are legendary figures on the field of battle and have demontrated inhuman amounts of strength and stamina.

He is also considered one of the Crimson Guards most powerful mages, his capacity being such that it impressed Ho who was himself a powerful mage. He was able to create a magical shield strong enough to protect himself from the magical onslaught of the Mage Ussu, who was drawing upon his own and The Lady's power and the life force of Iron Bars, and, on a seperate occasion, the mad mage Yathengar who was using the combined power of many of the mages from the otaral mines. He has demonstrated offensive powers in the form of raw blasts of force and what appears to be telekinesis. As D'riss is his natural warren he is sensitive to items that are imbued with it's power, such as Burns hammer and Greymanes Sword, and also what happens to the earth within a great distance of his vicinity. He can also travel and take others through his warren to greatly reduce the distance and time to get to his desired location.

Personality: A good commander he appears to care greatly for his comrades and their cause. He was willing to go through impossible odds on nothing but a rumour to rescue Iron Bars. He has a well developed sense of right and wrong and will do the right thing even when it's not necessary exampled by his willingness to give reparations to the Jhek warband and unwillingness to act violently when things turned hostile.

GotM, Dramatis Personae

"(Adjunct Lorn) was in a whirlwind exchange with a tall, round-shouldered man with two scimitars. (...) she was now being driven back as a flurry of attacks swept around her. They both moved so quickly that Crokus could not even see the parries, or the blades themselves (...) Then a voice chuckled beside him, 'He's good, ain't he?'(...)The woman was trying to disengage now (...) Her opponent continued pressing, silent as a ghost. (...) 'That's Corporal Blues. He lives for this stuff.'"

"The Adjunct broke away, taking a cut in the right shoulder blade as she did so. (...) But who was that man? Never before had she faced such a swordsman, and the most appalling thing was that he had fought without the aid of sorcery. For once, her Otataral blade and her skill had not been enough."

GotM, UK MMPB, p.677

"'You crimson guardsmen- you're pretty sure of yourselves, aren't you?'

'When it comes to fighting, aye, lass, we are.'

'I watched Iron Bars fight in Trate. he's an exception I gather-'

'Aye, he is, but not among the Avowed. Jup Alat would've given him trouble. or Poll for that matter. Then there's those in the other companies. Halfdan, Blues, Black the Elder...'

'More of these Avowed?'

'Aye'"
